Our loved one, Daniel Wayne Voils, 58, succumbed to illness on
Saturday, the 4th of May, 2019. Dan was born June 1, 1960 to Alex
(Ray) and Patricia (Patty) Voils in Indianapolis, IN. He now joins them
in heaven.
Dan was a lifelong resident of the Indianapolis west side/Brownsburg
area. He graduated from Brownsburg High School in 1978. He had
worked at RCA, IPS, and then owned his own paintball store, Indy
Extreme. Dan was a longtime member of the Brownsburg Masonic Lodge #241 F&AM.
Dan’s interests, while being wide and varied, have always involved his
first love – his family. His passions in life included photography and
videography, fishing, boating, snow skiing in Colorado, the ocean’s
beaches, paintball, firearms, and his children and grandchildren. Dan
found ways to make his children and grandchildren part of all he did; photographing recitals, visiting the shooting range, or managing his paintball team, The Wiseguys. We would be remiss if we didn’t include
his dogs Penny and Gracie Mae.
Dan is survived by his life partner Melinda (Mindy) Davis; his four
sons Joshua (Anne), Brandon, Nicholas (Ashley), and Jeremy; his
step-kids Christopher (Nikki), Alicia Davis-Johnson (Darrell), and
Hayley York (Josh); his grandchildren Kacie, Lacie, Taja, Olivia,
Daeton, Emilee, Evan, Kayden, Kayley, JD, Lia, Isaac, and Tyler; and
his loving brothers, sister, nieces, nephew, great-nieces and greatnephews.
In his life’s travels he met many people and was a loyal friend to all.
While we have lost someone truly special he is no longer in pain and
for that we are grateful. Dan’s wish was to be cremated with his ashes
spread over a paintball field and then “party hardy!” He did not want a
ceremony.
Dan’s Celebration of Life will be held at the former Paintball Indiana
site located at 3007 State Road 67 N, Martinsville, IN 46151 starting at
noon on Dan’s birthday, the 1st of June, 2019. Food and soft drinks
will be provided but feel free to bring your own refreshments.

To my friend. I will miss you. We had good times at both the paintball field and shooting range together. As the reality of you being gone sets in, the world seems to be a bit smaller and lonelier these days. I loved our talks about our passion for both paintball and guns. Thank you for being a guide to so many young persons in both those fields. My sons will be better for the knowledge you help pass on to them.
I will see you in Valhalla my friend. Skol!!!

Fort Liberty Firearms says
With a heavy heart, his friends and family at #TheFort will deeply miss Dan. In his natural setting, Dan was always willing to lend a hand, suggestion, and extend a favor when in need. Well-know, well-liked, and well-loved, Dan lived thoroughly in every moment and often talked about his family, but most especially his grandchildren. We will continue to uplift his family in prayer and take comfort in knowing his friendship throughout the years. God Speed my friend.
Brittany says
Dear Voils family, I wanted to send you my deepest sympathies. I am very sorry for your loss. I can sympathize with the hurt and emptiness of heart you are feeling. Death has been an enemy to each of us, taking those we love so dearly. Soon there will be no more pain, illnesses, or death to cause so much grief, for the Bibles’ promises are so fulfilling and gives us a beautiful hope for the future. 1 Peter 5:7 assures us that Almighty God “cares for us.” So soon He will undo the effects of suffering, sickness, mourning, wickedness, and will “swallow up death forever.” (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:4)
Aunt Dorothy says
I remember when dan was a very little guy trailing after Raymond and I. We were not always very nice. He just laughed and had the biggest smile. Dan loved his mom and tried to help as much as possible in her later years. I so appreciated the recordings he made of her dr appointments and forward them. He went to appointments with her until his own health began to decline. One thing patty would tell me was how good mindy and her kids and grandkids were to him and how very much he loved them! Rest in pease dear dan, life had been pretty tough on you, no more pain or heart ache. I am sure you are wrapped in the loving arms of your parents. You will be missed by many!
Aunt Dorothy says
In addition, Dan loved his boys and grandkids with all his big heart! I remember discussing photography with him, learning more each time. Give your mom and aunt Bette a big hug from me. Love you my dear nephew!
